I have been bothering the team for ages about how I dislike having to open the left sidebar. However, the new Bea design that we are about to use will be used way more, not only as a list of links and affordances, but as the main app navigation. I think this makes a lot of sense and will help users to understand the system foundations. Still, I want to keep my clean writing experience without opening the Sidebar! :)

I propose that we start being more considerate with the App Keyboard Shortcuts from now on! I believe that everybody wants this, and each of us has asked for it at one point. So let's do it!

For every command in the system, there should be a Keyboard Shortcut. For each item in the sidebar, there should be a Keyboard Shortcut! Eric Vicenti and Alex Burdiyan have asked for some shortcuts, such as Search or Quick Publishing commands.

People might want to change the default shortcuts. We won't start using a configuration file because it requires significant effort, but we acknowledge that we will want it in the future. For now, we will maintain the following see document with all the Keyboard Shortcuts:
