The importer currently does not reliably process math formats. The issue is that there is no single standard for writing math in Markdown, making consistent import difficult. Different Patterns used in Markdown:

There's MathJax, there's KaTex, but they are not 100% compatible with LaTex math expressions. And they can be translated in different ways between LaTex and Markdown.

Looks like MathJax is the most compatible with LaTex, but it's slow in browsers.
