I realize that Gabo H Beaumont likes shooting comments in documents for quick interactions, but after today's call I also noticed that we use comments all over the place for things like meeting notes, and progress tracking. I find it really overwhelming! It's so hard to find those things later. Tracking our progress by changing the font style of list items in the Roadmap documents, and in the various User Stories documents and subdocuments is also really hard to track.
I propose a few things:
Don't just throw comments on a home page or on the roadmap document when there's a more relevant documents. Granted, it's not always easy, so maybe just forget about this point :)
Let's get back to having meeting notes documents, at least for the hypertuesdays. In there we would:
track the progress on projects and tasks done by the team, having links to the relevant blocks and documents from the user stories and roadmap;
track the plans for the next cycle, linking to projects, stories and roadmap items.
Why?
The list of those meeting notes ordered chronologically would serve as a log for our work and plans. Those plans would be linked to the roadmap and user stories, so we'd always stay on top of our priorities.
We keep information relevant. Comments relevant for one week have no place in our Roadmap documents, staying there forever, cluttering the whole feed. Comments and documents would stay more grouped, at least by time.
We used to do it. It worked great. I miss it.
